ATLANTA, Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Citizens Trust Bank announced that Cynthia N. Day, President and Chief Executive Officer, was formally elected Chair of the National Bankers Association (NBA) during the organization's Annual Conference in October 2026. The appointment places Day in a leadership role within the nation's leading trade association for minority depository institutions and community-focused banks.
As Chair, Day will work with banking leaders across the country to support the NBA's efforts to strengthen minority depository institutions, expand access to capital, and promote economic opportunity in communities that have historically faced barriers to financial services.
"This appointment reflects Cynthia's deep understanding of the role community banks play in helping individuals, businesses, and neighborhoods grow and prosper," said Ray Robinson, Chairman of Citizens Bancshares Corporation. "Her experience leading a mission-driven financial institution and her commitment to expanding economic opportunities will contribute to the important work of the National Bankers Association and its member institutions."
"This is an opportunity to work alongside banking leaders from across the country to advance the mission of minority depository institutions and the communities they serve," said Cynthia N. Day. "Community banks play an important role in expanding access to capital, supporting small businesses, promoting homeownership, and helping families build financial stability. I look forward to contributing to that work through the National Bankers Association."
Since joining Citizens Trust Bank in 2003, Day has served in several executive leadership roles, becoming Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 2005 and Chief Executive Officer in 2012.
Under her leadership, Citizens Trust Bank has maintained a strong financial position while continuing its focus on community development, small business lending, homeownership initiatives, financial education, and economic development throughout the communities it serves.
Day has spent more than two decades in community banking, focusing on initiatives that expand access to capital, promote financial education, and support economic opportunity in underserved communities. Throughout her leadership at Citizens Trust Bank, the organization has remained committed to helping individuals, families, and businesses build long-term financial stability through responsible banking and community development programs.
In addition to her role as President and CEO, Day serves on several corporate, industry, and civic boards, including the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Primerica, Inc., PROG Holdings, the American Bankers Association, the National Bankers Association, and Meharry Medical College. Her experience across the banking, business, and nonprofit sectors provides a broad perspective on the opportunities and challenges facing community financial institutions nationwide.
"While this is a personal honor, it also reflects the work of the many associates, board members, customers, and community partners who support our mission every day," said Cynthia N. Day. "Our focus remains on creating opportunities for individuals, families, and businesses to achieve long-term financial success."
Day's election comes at a time when minority depository institutions continue to play a critical role in expanding access to financial services, supporting entrepreneurship, and strengthening local economies. Citizens Trust Bank looks forward to supporting the National Bankers Association's ongoing efforts to advance those priorities nationwide.
