New Orleans-born brunch destination invites the community to help fight childhood hunger during one of the year’s most critical seasons
New Orleans, LA (RestaurantNews.com) Every visit goes beyond brunch on Saturday, July 11, as Ruby Slipper hosts a one-day fundraiser benefiting No Kid Hungry at its Mid City restaurant. Guests will receive a meal on the house and are encouraged to donate what they would have spent on a meal to No Kid Hungry.
For many children, summer can be one of the most challenging times of the year, as school meals are no longer available. With an estimated 1 in 4 children in Louisiana facing hunger, community support helps fill the gap until school resumes. Every donation made on July 11 will go directly to No Kid Hungry, with Ruby Slipper’s restaurant technology partner, Toast, matching every dollar donated to double the impact. The event will take place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ruby Slipper’s Mid City restaurant, located at 315 S. Broad St.
“At Ruby Slipper, brunch has always been about bringing people together,” said Jennifer Weishaupt, co-founder of Ruby Slipper. “On July 11, we’re inviting our community to gather around the table for something bigger than breakfast. It’s a simple idea: enjoy brunch on us and, if you’re able, donate what you would have spent to help ensure more children have meals this summer.”
Last year, Ruby Slipper guests raised more than $9,500 for No Kid Hungry, with Toast’s matching support doubling the campaign’s reach. This year’s event aims to build on that momentum and raise even more for children and families facing food insecurity.
