President and CEO of Cook Children's Health Plan is Retiring This Month
AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Texas Association of Community Health Plans (TACHP) today paid tribute to Karen Love, a founding member of TACHP, on her retirement as President and CEO of Cook Children's Health Plan.
"Karen Love didn't just build a career, she built a legacy," said Janet Walker, President and CEO of TACHP. "As President of Cook Children's Health Plan, she helped countless families in North Texas get the care they needed. And as a founding member of TACHP, she helped ensure that those same families had their voices heard in the legislature in Austin."
Love became President and CEO of the Cook Children's Health Plan in 2018. Prior to that, she had a long career in health care. She first served as Executive Director of the Harris County Healthcare Alliance from 2005-2012. And after that she served Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Community Health Choice from 2012-2018. It was during this time that she was instrumental in helping to start TACHP as a way of advocating for community health plans in Austin.
"Karen Love may be leaving but her impact remains," said Craig Smith, TACHP Chair and President and CEO of Driscoll Health Plan. "TACHP would not exist had it not been for her leadership and guidance. We congratulate her on a remarkable career."
Love will be stepping down this week.
